On: 18 SEP 2025 – : In a significant push towards holistic healthcare for India’s workforce and their families, the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has launched a massive fortnight-long health drive across its 160 hospitals nationwide. The initiative, part of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare’s “Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan” (Healthy Women, Empowered Family Campaign), converges with the 8th Rashtriya Poshan Maah, underscoring a committed focus on women’s health as the cornerstone of family well-being.
Launched by the Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on September 17, 2025, the campaign sees ESIC, under the Ministry of Labour & Employment, taking a leading role in delivering comprehensive, on-ground health services tailored for women beneficiaries—the insured workers, their spouses, and daughters.
Faridabad Sets the Benchmark with Multi-Pronged Health Camps
ESIC Medical College & Hospital, Faridabad, exemplified the campaign’s spirit with a series of impactful activities from day one. Inaugurated by senior faculty including Dr. Pooja Goyal and Dr. Rohit Dhaka, the programme demonstrated a clear focus on preventive care and community awareness.
The efforts extended beyond the hospital walls into the industrial heartland. Health camps at companies like Shahi Export Pvt. Ltd. and Dhruv Global Ltd. provided critical, accessible screenings for female workers. These included:
- Comprehensive NCD Screening: Questionnaire-based assessments for Tuberculosis, alongside clinical examinations for hypertension, diabetes, and anaemia through BP checks, blood sugar tests, and haemoglobin estimation.
- Awareness & Counselling: Interactive sessions demystified lifestyle disorders, menstrual hygiene, the importance of vaccination, and nutritional practices for anaemia management.
- TB Elimination Drive: Active enrolment in the Nikshay Mitra initiative and a collective pledge against Tuberculosis highlighted the campaign’s broader public health goals.
Adding a layer of civic responsibility, a blood donation camp was organized on the hospital campus. Donors of blood and Single Donor Platelets (SDP) were felicitated, reinforcing a culture of voluntary donation, with all units rigorously screened to ensure transfusion safety.
The centrepiece was a dedicated women’s health camp with a special focus on cancer awareness. Services included antenatal check-ups, nutritional counselling, and most notably, specialized screenings for oral, breast, and cervical cancers, including Pap smear tests—a critical tool for the early detection of cervical cancer.
Hyderabad Inaugurates New Facility, Amplifying Healthcare Capacity
Marking the campaign as a milestone event, ESIC Medical College & Hospital in Sanathnagar, Hyderabad, chose the day to inaugurate its In-house Camp Services at a newly constructed 200-bedded hospital building.
Presided over by Dr. Sourav Kumar Dutta, Chief Technology Officer, ESIC, and Shri Rajiv Lal, Regional Director, ESIC Hyderabad, the inauguration was a testament to ESIC’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure. This new facility is poised to significantly improve the accessibility and quality of medical care for insured persons and their families in the region.
The campus buzzed with aligned activities, including Annual Preventive Health Check-ups, a Blood Donation Camp, Yoga sessions, and the Swachhata Hi Seva pledge, presenting a holistic model of health promotion and community engagement.
A Commitment to National Health Priorities
The “Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyan” is more than a campaign; it is a reflection of ESIC’s core mission. By moving the focus from curative to preventive care and directly addressing the health challenges faced by women—the pillars of the working-class family—ESIC is not just providing medical services. It is empowering individuals, strengthening families, and contributing tangibly to the nation’s vision of a healthier, more resilient, and empowered society.
For the workforce of India, this initiative reaffirms that their health, and the health of their loved ones, remains a paramount national priority.
