On: 17 SEP 2025 – In a monumental effort to bolster the health of India’s workforce at its very core—the family—the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has launched an extensive health drive across the nation. This initiative is part of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare’s (MoHFW) flagship fortnight-long campaign, “Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan” (Healthy Women, Empowered Family Campaign), launched by the Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on September 17, 2025.
Aligning with the Prime Minister’s unwavering focus on Poshan (Nutrition), Fitness, and Preventive Health, this Abhiyaan represents the largest-ever health outreach for women and children in the country. For ESIC, an autonomous body under the Ministry of Labour & Employment, this campaign is a direct reflection of its mandate to safeguard the well-being of insured workers and their families.
Unprecedented Scale: Reaching Every Corner of the Workforce
Leveraging one of the world’s largest health networks, ESIC is deploying its vast infrastructure to ensure no beneficiary is left behind. During the 13-working-day fortnight, comprehensive health camps are being organized across:
- 160 ESI Hospitals
- 1,603 Dispensaries
- 107 Dispensary cum Branch Offices (DCBOs)
- Approximately 100 volunteering tie-up hospitals
This massive rollout includes both location-based camps and mobile outreach units, with each of the 160 ESI hospitals conducting one mobile camp daily. The target is comprehensive: reaching women beneficiaries, adolescents, and children across all age groups with essential, preventive healthcare services.
A Multi-Faceted Approach to Preventive Care
The ESIC camps are designed to be a one-stop solution for preventive health, moving beyond curative care to empower families with knowledge and early detection. Key services include:
- Routine Ante-Natal Check-ups and Immunization: Ensuring the health of mothers and newborns from the very beginning, with an emphasis on distributing Mother and Child Protection (MCP) cards.
- Comprehensive Health Screenings: Focused on non-communicable diseases (NCDs), anaemia, diabetes, and hypertension through on-the-spot investigations like haemoglobin and blood sugar tests.
- Specialist Care Integration: Ensuring screen-positive cases receive immediate attention through on-site specialist consultation camps and seamless referral systems for follow-up treatment.
- Awareness and Counselling: Daily sessions are being held on critical topics such as nutrition, healthier cooking practices, portion control, and the importance of family-based physical activities.
Beyond Healthcare: Building a Culture of Contribution and Compliance
In a show of solidarity and community service, ESIC is organizing 50 blood donation camps across its hospitals during the fortnight, encouraging voluntary donation among the workforce and the public.
Furthermore, the corporation is reinforcing its commitment to national health goals by actively supporting the TB eradication mission through Nikshay Mitra pledge campaigns, encouraging beneficiaries to become community supporters in the fight against tuberculosis.
The Foundation of a Viksit Bharat
The “Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan” is more than a medical campaign; it is a philosophical commitment to the idea that a healthy woman is the foundation of a healthy family, and healthy families are the bedrock of a strong and prosperous nation.
By mobilizing its entire ecosystem for this cause, ESIC is doing more than providing medical services. It is empowering the women of India’s workforce, strengthening the social fabric of millions of families, and actively contributing to the realization of the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision of a healthy, empowered, and Viksit Bharat.
For the organised sector workforce, ESIC’s participation in this Abhiyan is a powerful reassurance that their health, and the health of their families, remains a paramount national priority.
