Two days meeting of State/UT Labour & Employment Secretaries concludes in Agra, Uttar Pradesh 

Ministry of Labour & Employment, Government of India organized a meeting with States/UTs Labour and Employment Secretaries at Agra, Uttar Pradesh from 29th June – 30th June, 2023. Additional Chief Secretary/Principal Secretaries/Secretaries/Commissioners of Labour/Employment from 28 States/UTs participated in the meeting. Smt. Arti Ahuja, Secretary, Ministry of Labour & Employment, Government of India, chaired the meeting. Shri Ramesh Krishnamurthi, Additional Secretary, Labour & Employment, Shri Alok Chandra, Senior Labour & Employment Adviser, Dr. Rajendra Kumar, Director General, ESIC along with other officials from Ministry of Labour & Employment and its organizations participated in the meeting.

Secretary, Ministry of labour and Employment, while welcoming the participants to the meeting, explained the objectives of this meeting, namely, to discuss important issues relating to the welfare of the workers, including those in unorganized sector such as migrant workers, BOC Workers, SoP for Shramik Chaupal to reach-out to workers at their doors, integration of various portals & sharing of data, conduct of job fairs under National Career Service and increasing enrolments in PMSYM.

The meeting stressed on the “Need for taking collective efforts to cover the uncovered workers so far with Social Security coverage emphasised by Secretary, Labour & Employment Important issues relating to E-Shram, migrant workers, BOC Workers, NCS, PMSYM, Shramik Chaupal and ESIC discussed”.

Secretary, Ministry of labour and Employment, while welcoming the participants to the meeting, explained the objectives of this meeting, namely, to discuss important issues relating to the welfare of the workers, including those in unorganized sector such as migrant workers, BOC Workers, SoP for Shramik Chaupal to reach-out to workers at their doors, integration of various portals & sharing of data, conduct of job fairs under National Career Service and increasing enrolments in PMSYM.

ESIC related issues like, land for hospitals/dispensaries, functioning of ESIS hospitals, Construction of ESIC/ESIS hospitals, maintenance of Annual Repair Maintenance and Service Repair works of ESIS hospitals, ESIS State Society, utilization of OAP, implementation of Dhanwantri, etc. were discussed in detail. Director General, ESIC inter-alia requested States to utilize ESIS hospitals, under the State Governments, whose bed occupancy are poor, in a better manner.

Secretary, Ministry of Labour & Employment stressed on the need for taking collective efforts to cover the workers uncovered so far with social security coverage in both the organized sector and unorganized sector. The Secretary launched a Dashboard for State Nodal Officers in NCS Portal during this meeting. A presentation on digital mapping of 3193 offices/establishments under Ministry of Labour & Employment, was also made during the meeting.

The meeting was also utilized for discussing other issues related to States/UTs and Central Government, including best practices.
