NEW DELHI,01-NOV-2025 – The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) celebrated its 73rd Foundation Day at Bharat Mandapam today, with Union
Minister *Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya* outlining a transformative vision for a more accessible, technology-driven social security ecosystem that prioritizes
workers’ trust and dignity.

The event, attended by Ms. Vandana Gurnani, Secretary (Labour & Employment), Shri Ramesh Krishnamurthi, Central Provident Fund Commissioner, CBT
members, and over 700 delegates, highlighted EPFO’s evolving role from a compliance body to a citizen-centric institution aligned with the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision.

Ministerial Vision: From Resolve to Realisation

In his keynote address, Dr. Mandaviya emphasized EPFO’s sacred responsibility toward India’s workforce, stating, “EPFO is not merely a fund—it represents the trust of India’s workforce in social security.” He urged officers to embrace efficiency, transparency, and empathy as core values, ensuring every
reform reaches workers in “clear and simple terms.”

Calling this a moment to “script a new chapter,” the Minister reinforced the need for global benchmarks in social security administration.

Strengthening the Pillars of Formal Employment

Ms. Vandana Gurnani highlighted EPFO’s critical role in implementing the Prime Minister’s Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PMVBRY), aimed at incentivizing
3.5 crore new jobs. She stressed, “Behind every file lies a dedicated worker, a family, and a dream,” underscoring the human dimension of
social security.

Shri Ramesh Krishnamurthi, CPFC, detailed ongoing tech upgrades—including the Centralised Pension Payment System, Aadhaar and face authentication,
and the forthcoming EPFO 3.0 platform—that are making services seamless and accessible.

New Initiatives Launched

The Foundation Day also saw the rollout of several key initiatives:

  • Employees’ Enrolment Scheme 2025: A six-month voluntary window for employers to declare eligible employees left out between July 2017 and October 2025,
with waived employee share contribution and nominal penalties.
  • New EPFO Portal: A user-friendly homepage (www.epfo.gov.in) offering simplified navigation and access to services.
  • MoUs Signed: Partnerships with India Post Payments Bank for digital life certificates and with GeM for data exchange.
  • Publications Released: A Coffee Table Book, State Profile 2025, and Reimagining Governance chronicling EPFO’s journey. Recognizing Excellence

The Bhavishya Nidhi Awards 2025 were presented to Regional, Zonal, and District Offices for exemplary performance, reinforcing a culture of innovation
and accountability.

A Labour Perspective:*
As EPFO modernizes its infrastructure and expands coverage, these reforms must continue to prioritize the worker—ensuring that technology serves people,
policies remain inclusive, and every employee, whether in formal or emerging sectors, feels the assurance of social security. This is foundational
to building a resilient, confident, and Viksit Bharat.

This report is based on official updates from the Ministry of Labour & Employment and EPFO.
