Surendra Kumar Pandey, BMS Deputy National General Secretary in Workers group meeting at the 111th ILC meeting on “Social Protection” put BMS views & demands on 04 Labour Codes. He has Spoken in detail on Labour Codes and Social Security, its relevance and stand of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh.
He expressed his views, stating that the government of India has prepared the 4 labour codes by sub suing all the previous acts relating to occupational safety, health and working conditions, industrial relations, wages and social security.
BMS is apposing 2 (two) labour codes out of 4 (four) i.e., code on occupational safety, health and working conditions, industrial relations labour codes and supporting the other codes i.e., wages and social security. The social security code is extending the social security benefits to the last row workers earlier their was no such provisions. He highlighted that the unorganised workers, gig & platform workers, interstate migrant workers, domestic workers and agricultural workers etc., and now all of these workers are benefitted by this code.
Continuing his voice in ILO, he said that code on wages has also ensured the minimum wage to unscheduled employment. Earlier it was only for scheduled employment and this word is deleted. And hence we welcome such measures which is benefiting workers in last row. Hence BMS has welcomed these two codes i.e., Code on social security and Code on wages.
Through the ILO Conference Genewa, he asserted on behalf of BMS to the chair to advise Indian Government (GOI) on the implementation of social security code including the seafarer at the earliest and reconsidering the objections submitted by BMS & other central trade union to amend the amendments submitted on the code on occupational safety, health and working conditions, industrial relations.
